GiftFlow is a web app for building local networks of giving. Users post what they need and what they can give away. GiftFlow connects them with users nearby, providing them with messaging functionality and a reputation system based on user-written reviews.
The goal of GiftFlow is to provide communities with a free and sustainable alternative to the consumer economy. Building a local gift economy empowers residents to accumulate wealth through generosity to their local community.
GiftFlow is written in PHP using a CodeIgniter framework. We are focused on our deployment here in New Haven, CT, but we also work to support others setting up the app in their area.
