Developed by New York City to upgrade its current Rules website, NYC Rules is an implementation of Drupal 7 that enhances the public's access to the rulemaking process, invites members of the public to comment on proposed rules online, makes rulemaking data more accessible to search engines, and streamlines traditional methods of public input such as submission by mail directly to the rulemaking agency, or testimony at a public hearing. While still undergoing internal testing, other governments have already reached out to New York City to express their interest in adopting the NYC Rules codebase for their needs, and New York City has released the code as open-source software on Github.
